Assistant LECTURER, DEGREE Apprenticeships – Data, Analytics and Mathematics for Computing

Flexible location E.G. London OR Birmingham OR Leeds OR Bristol OR Manchester

About our role: As an Assistant Lecturer, you will be responsible (jointly with Senior Lecturers) for the progress and academic achievement of degree apprentices on our various Computing Degree Apprenticeships. The programme involves the delivery of a number of computing streams which incorporate Data, Analytics and Maths, allowing our learners to achieve a BSc (Hons) Degree in Digital & Technology Solutions. The role involves teaching and learning on innovative modules. They are innovative as they involve experiential learning, spiral learning, creating digital, future-proofed organisations and the development of theories-in-action; all to approach work-based learning in a scholarly and professional way. You will also be involved in the development of module material, liaison with coaches who visit the learners in the workplace and the marking of assessments; all to create a progressive and valuable experience for every student and their employer.

Your focus: You will be expected to teach at least across two functional areas and to be able to accommodate learners integrating material from any module, into any role, in any sector. The role requires working with Senior Lecturers, who are Module Leaders, and the Associate Dean. We work as a close-knit, broadly self-managed team, sharing teaching experiences and new ideas. We challenge each other and work determinedly and efficiently, to reach ever improving teaching and learning standards and outcomes.

Having a passion for teaching, imparting knowledge and engendering new skills and behaviours, keeping up to date in an ever-changing world, and importantly role-modelling your interest in inquiring into organisations to promote the professional development of managers, are all needed for this varied, evolving role.

Bring your experience: A postgraduate degree – preferably in a computing or related discipline

Teaching and learning experience, including work-based learning and a specialist subject area**

A teaching qualification or a desire to obtain one, preferably Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy

Experience outside of education in a business sector(s)

The skill and habits of someone who can role model continual learning and inquiry

An interest in, and updated knowledge of the impact of technology on business

Daily ways of working that include skills that enhance efficiency

Evidence of managing students within university rules and regulations or operating in a similar, quality led environment

* Candidates with teaching and learning experience without a postgraduate degree will be considered

**Candidates wanting to enter teaching and learning at Higher Education level for the first time will be considered, if they have a postgraduate degree
