EAP Lecturer (online, homebased, fulltime generally 8am-4.30pm)    

Fixed Term Contract July Mid-September

A little more about the role: QA Higher Education works in partnership with the Solent and Northumbria Universities to deliver pre-sessional and IFP programmes. Our portfolio of Pre-Sessional and International Foundation Programme pathways are designed to help students from around the world improve their academic and English language skills before undertaking undergraduate or postgraduate degree studies with our partner. Due to our growth, QA Higher Education is looking for qualified, experienced and enthusiastic EAP Lecturers. Our Focus is on delivery of high quality learning and teaching to facilitate excellent student outcomes. Online teaching experience desirable. 

What you’ll get up to:

Plan, prepare and deliver EAP and Skills modules

Mark and provide appropriate feedback on oral and written work

Attend and contribute to CPD training sessions organised internally or externally

Provide academic support to students on EAP and Skills modules

Adhere to and maintain academic standards and quality assurance within the EAP team

Provide pastoral care and support to international students on our EAP programmes

What you’ll bring to the team: You should have suitable and relative teaching experience and should hold an ELT qualification or higher degree in a relevant subject area. A teaching qualification and membership of the HEA would be advantageous.

Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults (DELTA) or equivalent (i.e. MA in TEFL/ TESOL)

Candidates with MA in TEFL/TESOL without TEFL I qualification (e.g. CELTA or Trinity TESOL) shortlisted for interview will be required to provide evidence of 5 hours of systematic observation of lessons by a fully-qualified academic manager or teacher trainer;

Degree or equivalent; Experience of teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) in a university environment;

Maths and Business/Computing knowledge/teaching desirable.

A little more about us:

The EAP team currently works with these university partners: Roehampton, Ulster, Northumbria, Middlesex and Solent, and teaches academic writing and study skills programmes to all levels, from Foundation Level 3 to Masters Level 7. The team is involved in a variety of programmes from standard pre-sessional to a rage of in-sessional courses, both assessed and unassessed. The team from all current locations takes an active part in an internal and external CPD programme. It works closely with the rest of the academic team, establishing the most effective student support mechanisms, and adapts the content of academic writing and study skills programmes to the relevant module/course content.
